#23 The Roots - Things fall apart

Si el otro día aparecía Illadelph halflife en el ranking hoy es el turno de para mí la magnum opus de The Roots: Thigs fall apart. Tiene lugar en 1999, durante el momento álgido de los Soulquarians y se aprecia la influencia del colectivo tanto en colaboraciones (Common, D'Angelo, Erykah Badu) como en la música y estilo en general (con producción de J Dilla incluida). Me atrevería a decir que el mejor trabajo de la banda hasta la fecha. Y aquí un tema que me encanta y aparece en este disco.

La peculiaridad de The Roots es que, además de estar liderados por el genial Black Thought, son una banda con instrumentos reales. Éste es su tercer disco, y en él ya se empieza a notar la influencia de los que más tarde llegarían a ser los Soulquarians, al contar con colaboraciones de Raphael Saadiq, D'Angelo, Q-Tip o Common. Contenido responsable en las letras y en general gran música.
